Appendix A: Firewall and Port Information

This section contains information about the ports used by Panorama PON EMS. This information is necessary to configure "holes" through firewall devices to facilitate communications.

Two data communications paths exist between the various elements of the Panorama PON EMS platform. A firewall can be placed in either of these paths to protect the network from unwanted traffic. The first path sits between the Panorama PON EMS client and a Panorama PON EMS server. The second path sits between a Panorama PON EMS server and any Tellabs 1000 Voice Gateway (VGW) or Tellabs 1100 Series OLTs. Figure 1 provides an illustration of these paths:

External OSS (Operations Support Systems) may communicate with either the Panorama PON EMS server or Tellabs 1000 Voice Gateway (VGW) / Tellabs 1100 Series OLT systems.

While reviewing port usage information, keep in mind that the Panorama PON EMS Server and Client can be installed in two ways depending on the customers’ network configuration:

  • Windows Server/Client - Panorama PON EMS for Windows Server and Client applications both installed on the same machine (allows GUI access on Server machine).
  • Windows Client only - Panorama PON EMS for Windows Client application only installed on the remote user’s  machine (connects to a Panorama PON EMS application Server).
