Connect Downstream

Note: The user must log on with Admin user account privileges to perform this function when using a serial port connection at the ESU.

There may be times when it is necessary to connect to an input/output card (such as a TDU1), a QOIU7, or to a registered and provisioned ONT729GP. This is the only ONT these can be connected to at present.

Use the connect command to establish a session with the linecard or 729GP ONT.  The 729GP is the only ONT that supports remote connections using this command.

QOIU7

• Command - connect

1. From the ESUx> command line, input connect, and press Enter. Output similar to the following is displayed:
    

   ESUx> connect <enter> Enter I for I/O Slot containing ONT729 Q for QOIU T for TDU Board Type (I,Q,T) [I]: _

2. Input Q, and press Enter. The following prompt is displayed:

   Enter I/O Slot (1..4) [1]: _

3. Input the I/O slot hosting the targeted QOIU7, and press Enter. The following prompt is displayed:

   Entering character mode Escape character is '^]'. MontaVista(R) Linux(R) Professional Edition 4.0.1 (0502020) Linux/ppc 2.6.10_mvl401-QOIU7K_V000017 Connect from MDS1-ESUA QOIU7>

4. At the QOIU7> prompt, enter help or h, and press Enter, to display a list of available commands.

ONT729GP

• Command - connect

1. From an ESUx> command line, input connect, and press Enter. Output similar to the following is displayed: 

   ESUx> connect <enter> Enter I for I/O Slot containing ONT729 Q for QOIU Board Type (I,Q) [I]: _

2. Input I, and press Enter. The following prompt is displayed:

   Enter I/O Slot (1..4) [1]: _

3. Input the I/O slot hosting the target ONT, and press Enter. The following prompt is displayed:

   Enter I/O Port (1..4) [1]: _

4. Input the PON slot hosting the target ONT, and press Enter. The following prompt is displayed:

   Is this subcard located at GPON ONU shelf (Y/N) [N]: _

5. Input Y, and press Enter. The following prompt is Displayed:

   Enter ONT ID (1..32) [1]: _

6. Input the ONT ID, and press Enter. The following messages and prompt display if the target ONT is reachable:

   Escape character is '^]' Connect from ESUA ONT729GP>
