The Table below lists the Type of Event, Description, and a link to the respective procedure to further explain the event.

Tellabs 1100 Series Optical LAN - Default Events

Type Description
CIRCUIT-PACK-INSERT Indicates that a circuit pack, ESU, IO card, or ONT was inserted. The message describes what was inserted, i.e., MDS1-ESUA, MDS1-IO5, or MDS1-5-4-1. In the event of an IO card, the Location field denotes the card slot. In the event of an ONT being removed, the Location field denotes the AID of the ONT.
CIRCUIT-PACK-REMOVE Indicates that a circuit pack, ESU, IO card, or ONT was removed. The message describes what was inserted, i.e., MDS1-ESUA, MDS1-IO5, or MDS1-5-4-1. In the event of an IO card, the Location field denotes the card slot. In the event of an ONT being removed, the Location field denotes the AID of the ONT
CIRCUIT-PACK-RESET Indicates that a line card or ONT has been remotely reset by a user either through the CLI or the EMS.
DB-RESTORE-STATUS Indicates that either the user initiated a restore to the system or that, as part of a system upgrade, a restore was initiated. In order to upgrade database schema on most releases, the system performs a backup, upgrades the database, and restores as part of the normal upgrade process.
EMS-DBDT-COMPLETE Indicates completion of a Draw and Break Dial Tone (DBDT) test.
EMS-MLT-COMPLETE Indicates completion of a Mechanized Loop Test (MLT) to determine the copper metrics of a telephone local loop.
POE-PORT-STATUS-CHANGE Indicates a change in the port status of a PoE enabled ONT. Status change indicates the port has been enabled or disabled. A status change to disabled may indicate loss of PoE to the ONT.
REDUNDANT-ESU-CHG Sent whenever the ESU swaps from master to slave or a slave ESU has been inserted. The ESU cards can be equipped as redundant. During software upgrades or failures, the ESUs may swap to the protection unit to maintain services. This could be caused by:
  • Software Upgrade - When a software upgrade completes, and the system switches to the new software, if redundant the ESUs switch to protection to protect service and minimize the outage.
  • Software Failure - It is possible that an ESU has had a software fault and reset. If so the ESUs may switch to protection to preserve service.
  • Hardware Failure - It is possible that an ESU has detected a hardware failure. If the ESU status LED remains RED after switching this is often an indication of a hardware failure.
STP-TOPOLOGY-CHG Sent when the device detects that spanning tree has detected a topology change.
SW-UPGRADE-STATUS A user has downloaded new software to the system and switched it to the new release.
SYSTEM-RESTART Indicates that the ESU has successfully completed a restart. This could be caused by:
  • Remote Reset of ESU has been initiated - An EMS user has reset the ESU via the GUI reset commands. A CIRCUIT-PACK-RESET event, just prior to the restart, indicates a user reset the ESU.
  • Reset of ESU due to software upgrade - A system software update has been performed causing a reboot of the ESU. This can be verified in the Event log by looking for the SW UPGRADE-STATUS event.
  • Reset of ESU due to software issue - In certain unusual circumstances the ESU may reboot if there is a software issue. If this happens consistently, please contact Tellabs Technical Assistance Center to get the issue resolved (refer to Contacting Technical Support).
TCA-EVENT Indicates a Threshold Crossing Alert that represents performance monitoring when facilities are Out of Service. This threshold alerts the user of the amount of usage approaching the total capacity of the ONT to supply power.
TOPOLOGY-CHG This event report is simply informational and informs the user of the fact that a spanning tree topology change has occurred, and traffic is now flowing through a different path in the network. This event report is to be used for diagnosing networking issues and does not necessarily indicate any network degradation.
XCONNECT-CHG Indicates a change in the configuration of a cross-connect.
XCONNECT-DELETE Indicates that a cross-connect has been deleted.
