Edit

Any NAC profile (except the default profile) can be edited. When editing a profile, all ONTs that the profile has been applied to are automatically updated by the following internal actions:

  • The profile is saved to the server database, and an internal list is generated of all ONTs using the profile.
  • Profile updates are sent to these ONTs.
  • Changing a profile will affect all ONTs managed by the EMS.
  • Each profile is deactivated and then reactivated to re-synchronize the line with the provisioned settings.

    Warning

Caution: Editing a profile is momentarily service affecting to all lines associated with that profile.

Information Note 1: Only one profile can be edited at a time. All fields of an NAC profile can be edited, except the Profile Name.
Information Note 2: A Service Profile can be associated with the NAC Profile by selecting a profile from the Service Profiles list in the Edit Ethernet Port NAC Profile dialog, when Default or Guest VLAN is enabled.

Use the following procedure to edit an NAC profile:

  1. Select the Profile Name from the Profile/Template List to edit and click the Edit a Current Profile () icon in the Main Menu bar or right-click the profile name and use the pop-up menu to select Edit. The Edit Ethernet Port NAC Profile dialog is displayed.

  2. In the Ethernet Port NAC Profile dialog, edit the selected profile attributes to change the network behavior.
Information Note: For a description of each profile attribute and valid entry values, refer to the Create section table.
  3. After making changes to the profile attributes, click on the Apply button.
  4. An NAC Profile Edit Status dialog will be blank while the profile is updated and the result will be displayed showing the status when complete.

  5. When the update is finished, with no errors reported, click on the Close button.
  6.  If errors are reported, the exceptions appear in the Error Status section. Do one of the following:
    •   Click Retry to update these ONTs again
    •  Click Terminate to end the process with the errors.
Information Note: Typically, these OLT errors are caused by a loss of communication between the Panorama PON server and the OLT.
  7. When terminating a process with errors, a warning message confirms that the process was aborted. In the dialog that appears, click on the OK button.
Information Note: Manual synchronization can be performed to update these ONTs. However, if the errors are caused by a communication loss, Panorama PON automatically performs a mini synchronization when communication is restored.
  8. When the update is finished, click on the Close button.
  9. Go to Step 2 to edit more profiles.
  10. If no further profiles are to be edited, click on the Cancel button to close the Ethernet Port NAC Profile dialog.
  11. Click on the Close button again to exit the Profiles screen.
