No VLAN Egress Provisioned

This alarm is signaled when the system detects that a a vlan has been provisioned and no Uplink interface has been configured with that VLAN.  This indicates that this VLAN cannot egress the OLT and therefore is internal to the network only.

Pre-conditions

  • Service Profiles with VLAN are assigned to active ports.
  • VLAN is not configured onto the uplink.

Trouble Clearing

The probable causes of this alarm are:

VLAN not Provisioned on Uplink: The most common cause of this alarm is that no VLAN has been provisioned on the uplink, but that VLAN is in use on service profiles in the network. Go to the VLAN Table on the ONT carrying the network uplink and provision that VLAN.

  • The Uplink Interfaces VLAN Property table can be displayed by selecting the Switching view and select the VLAN Properties tab. The VLAN table is used to define the list of VLANs mapped to an interface and their associated traffic types:

VLAN Service
Service Type VLAN Type IGMP Proxy Comment
TLS Fullbridge

N

TLS is a 1:1 service or a service between trusted peers and so traffic can be safely bridged. IGMP Proxy should be set to N so that the multicast traffic can be passed through transparently.
Bridged N:N Fullbridge

N

This service type is used for performing standard Ethernet bridging. All endpoints are bridged. This protocol type is required if bridging between protocols other than IPv4 and PPPoE are required. This protocol is needed to pass IPv6 packets.
Bridge N:N

Private VLAN
Y| N
Private VLAN is utilized to prevent bridging between ports on that vlan within the OLT.  This forces all communication to be via the router and servers above the OLT and typically prevents any communication port to port on the OLT for that VLAN.

IPTV Fullbridge

Y

This service type is utilized when IPTV or Multicast service is utilized when N:N bridging and IPTV are needed on the same VLAN.
VLAN Trunk Fullbridge

N

Voice should be bridged to allow calls between subscribers. It can be configured as ForceFwd if there is a Session Border Controller (SBC) for the Softswitch. The EMS configures the cross-connects for these VLANs automatically when the ONT is configured, but the VLAN must be entered into the VLAN properties table and assigned to an uplink. Use Full Bridge if the external VoIP phones and ONT Voice are to be on the same VLAN. Use Limited Bridge if external VoIP and ONT voice lines are to be used on separate vlans. Limited bridging uses fewer system resources.
