  1. This procedure should ONLY be used for 48V DC installations of the shelf. This procedure should be skipped for shelves using 120/240VAC shelves.
  2. Insert the shelf into the desired position and push it straight back until the mounting brackets are flush against the mounting rails.
  3. The shelf is secured with four #12-24 screws. First insert the two upper mounting screws. Do not tighten the mounting screws until the lower two screws have been added as some amount of play is needed to align all the holes.
  4. Insert the two remaining screws into the bottom mounting holes and tighten as required. Tighten the two upper mounting screws to ensure the shelf is secure.
  5. Locate the Tellabs® OLT6 power cable (which contains -48V A and B Feeds, Returns, and Digital Grounds). Typically, the -48V A and B should be fed from different circuits with different inputs and circuit breakers to ensure the system continues running even if a single feed fails.  The digital ground should NEVER be connected to the -48V power supply return as this will introduce noise and safety concerns for the product.  The digital ground should be connected to the rack earth ground.

  1. Remove the Tellabs® shelf cover if it is currently in place.
  2. Connect P4 to the Tellabs® OLT6 input power connector.

  3. Replace the Tellabs® cover if previously removed.
  4. Route the power cable assembly up the rack side rail, dressing the cable as needed.
  5. Turn on the 48V Supply and the chassis should be ready for the next installation step.
