ONT Property

Use the following procedure to view or edit the ONT Property:

  1. Click the ONT Property tab on the ONT Property screen. The ONT Property dialog is displayed.

  2. The ONT Serial Number can be provisioned on the ONT as described in the table below.

    Field

    Description

NE IP Address The Internet Protocol (IP) address of the NE (ONT).
NE Target Identifier Target identifier (TID) of the selected NE (ONT).
Port AID The access identifier (AID) for the GPON port
ONT AID The AID for the selected ONT.
ONT ID The identification number for the selected ONT (range is 1-32 per GPON port).

    Serial Number

The serial number of this ONT. To activate by Serial Number, this entry must match the serial number of the ONT. The serial number must contain four characters plus eight digits (0-9) and it must be unique (that is, each provisioned ONT on one GPON port must have a unique serial number, except when pre-provisioned with the default value of TSLS00000000).

Note: When the Serial Number field is protected, the ONT is locked. Refer to Registration Status for additional details.

    Upstream BER Threshold

    Failure

Indicates the configured threshold for the upstream bit error rate (BER). This is used to indicate a signal failure on the PON link. When the BER becomes greater than, or equal to, this threshold, an ONT LOPL-SF (Signal Failure) alarm is generated.

Note: To configure this property, refer to “Configuring PON Ports, Statistics, and PON Protection”.

    Maintenance

Indicates the configured threshold for the upstream bit error rate (BER). This is used to indicate a degraded signal on the PON link. When the BER becomes greater than or equal to this threshold, an ONT BER Maintenance (Signal Degraded) alarm is generated.

Note: To configure this property, refer to “Configuring PON Ports, Statistics, and PON Protection”.

Registration Status and Check box to Unlock

The Registration Status indicates whether the ONT is Locked or Unlocked:

    • Locked means that the serial number is associated with an ONT ID and GPON port.
    • Unlocked means that the ONT has not been successfully associated with a provisioned serial number.

Select the check box to unlock the Serial Number field and activate a new ONT. For example, when an ONT is replaced at the subscriber premises, select this field, and click Apply to unlock the old information. Enter the new Serial Number to activate the new ONT.

    Admin state

Provides the option to enable or disable the admin state of an ONT. When an ONT is functioning incorrectly, set the Admin state to Disabled. This isolates the ONT for troubleshooting purposes. The ONT automatically sets the Admin state to Disabled when any of the following conditions are detected:

    • Loss of Key Sync - The ONT failed to sync the internal encryption key exchange with the ONT.
    • Mismatched ONT Type - The installed ONT is not the specified type.
    • Out-of-Range ONT - During the ranging process, the system determined that the ONT is beyond the maximum optical reach of 30 kilometers.
    • Unexpected ONT - An ONT is installed, but not provisioned in Panorama PON.

Note 1: When the Admin state is set to Disabled, Panorama PON does not attempt to range and activate the ONT. When the Admin state is set to Enabled, Panorama PON attempts to range and activate the ONT.

Note 2: Same as ITU G.984 Emergency Stop (eStop). Disabled means eStop is on.

  3. Click the Apply button to save the ONT provisioning updates.
  4. A confirmation message is displayed. Click the OK button.
  5. This process is initiated to range and activate the ONT.
