PON On Protect

Description

Signaled when a protected PON has switched to the Secondary PON. This typically occurs when the Primary PON fails.

The following criteria are supported:

  • Set: The Primary PON has failed and the PON has switched to the Secondary PON.
  • Clear: Primary PON is operational and the PON has switched from the Secondary PON back to the Primary PON.

Pre-Conditions(s)

This alarm only occurs if PON protection is configured.

Trouble Clearing

The probable causes of this alarm are:
  • Primary PON Failed: The primary PON link has failed and needs to be corrected. Traffic runs on the secondary PON until the primary PON is repaired. The default is that once the Primary PON is repaired, the traffic automatically returns to the primary link.
  • WaitToRestore Time = 0: If the WaitToRestore time is set to zero, the system is placed into a non-revertive mode and traffic does not return to the Primary link when the primary link becomes available. The Secondary link must be manually failed to force it back onto the primary link.
