Pre-Provisioning
One of the nice features is that the IP-POTS card can be preconfigured but left in a disabled state. This allows completely prepping the office served by existing T1000 RPOTS for cutover from the switch to the IP-POTS card. The IP POTs card can then be replaced and the service will update and cut over to SIP without any other manual intervention. This enables a flash cut with a very brief outage on a card-by-card basis as the card is replaced.

Bandwidth Utilization
The bandwidth utilization of the IP-POTs cards is very low. For any line in the onhook state, the IP-POTs card consumes almost no bandwidth just occasional SIP messages which do not consume any appreciable bandwidth. For active calls, a voice line consumes about 110Kb/s per active call. The following table shows the representative bandwidths for various numbers of active calls.
| Number of Active Calls: | Total Bandwidth |
| 1 | 110 Kb/s |
| 10 | 1.1 Mb/s |
| 100 (12%) | 11 Mb/s |
| 924 (all lines offhook) | 101 Mb/s |
| Idle Call Bandwidth | < 1Kb/s Average. |
| The actual bandwidth set aside for voice should be based on the maximum active calls expected to ever be present in the system. | |
IP-POTS Maximum Loop Length
The IP POTs card is capable of serving an 1830 Ohm DC supervision range.
