Prerequisites

The following prerequisites must be met prior to running Certificate Manager. (See the topic Requirements for Windows in the Panorama PON Administrator Guide for more information on general prerequisites.)

Prior to launching Certificate Manager, the following tasks must be performed:

• Backup the Panorama PON EMS database using backupems. (See the topic Backup and Restore in the Panorama PON Administrator Guide for more information).
• A Network Time Protocol (NTP) Server must be set up on the same network as the Panorama PON EMS and Optical Network Terminals (OLTs). Time differences severely affect certificate authentication and validation.
• A Domain Name Server (DNS) must be set up on the same network as the Panorama PON EMS and network Optical Network Terminals (OLTs).
• When using OCSP, the OCSP responder must be reachable from the Panorama PON EMS server and the Optical Network Terminals (OLTs).
• Operations performed by the Certificate Manager must be executed by a user with the role of CertificateAdmin. (See the topic Administration>User Manager>Roles in the Tellabs Panorama PON User Guide for instructions on creating login account(s) with CertificateAdmin Role privileges).
