Replace a MDS Fan Tray
| Note: Prior to beginning this procedure, the replacement fan and necessary tools should be readily available. Replacement should take place in one operation. |
Use the following procedure to replace a MDS fan tray:
- Unpack the replacement fan tray and inspect for any apparent damage.

Note: The following illustration shows the 23-inch fan tray.

- On the rear of the failed fan tray, disconnect the alarm/power cable.
- On the front of the fan tray, remove and retain the four #12-24 screws, securing the fan tray to the rack.
- Remove the fan tray from the rack.
- Insert the replacement fan tray in the same location as the removed fan tray.
- Insert four #12-24 screws in the mounting ears of the shelf and secure the tray to the rack, placing the ground cable under the screw position with the paint removed.
- Connect the power/alarm cable connector P1 to the power/alarm connector J1 on the rear of the fan tray.
