SIP CSRV - Cannot Resolve Domain Name

Description

Indicates that the ONT is attempting to register with the soft switch but is unable to do so because of a problem resolving the name of the registrar that was provided when configuring T-Config. If the Registrar was configured as a hostname, valid DNS server addresses are required to be populated in the DHCP response. This allows the ONT to properly resolve the name. It may also mean that the softswitch registrar is not registered with the soft switch.

Pre-Conditions(s)

The line must be in Soft switch mode for this alarm to occur.

Trouble Clearing

The probable causes of this alarm are:
  • invalid Dial Plan in the T-Config server.
  • URL of SIP registrar is incorrect: A hostname was used as the URL of the registrar when provisioning the T-Config server and there is a typographical error in the URL or the URL is incorrect. As a result, the ONT cannot resolve the name with the Domain Name Server (DNS). The SIP registrar URL can be found on the T-Config in the Services Profile being used (refer to T-Config Services Profiles in Tellabs 1100 Series Optical LAN Managing the PON Users Guide).
  • Incorrect Dial Plan: The EMS T-Config server comes with a set of default dial plans that can be used to handle most dialing scenarios (refer to "Call Features Profiles" in Tellabs 1100 Series Optical LAN Managing the PON) for details on editing and/or loading a dial plan. The text at the top of the dial plan provides insight into what the dial plan supports and can help guide the user to how to properly configure the dial plan. The Tellabs Technical Assistance Center is available to aid in modifications to dial plans to tailor them to local dialing rules (refer to Contacting Technical Support).
