Spanning Tree (STP)
Panorama PON supports the creation of Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) on uplink interfaces. STP is a network protocol that ensures a loop-free topology for any bridged Ethernet local area network (LAN). The basic function of STP is to prevent bridge loops and ensuing broadcast radiation. STP also allows a network design to include spare (redundant) links to provide automatic backup paths if an active link fails, without the danger of bridge loops, or the need for manual enabling/disabling of these backups.

Bridge Priority (cost) |
The cost of using the port to reach the root bridge. When selecting among multiple links to the root bridge, STP chooses the port with the lowest path cost and blocks the other paths. Each link type has its own default STP path cost. |
