Uplink Management

If traffic requirements exceed the capabilities of a single port, a Link Aggregation Group (LAG) uplink interface can be created, which groups an OLT’s uplinks in order to carry more traffic - like combining three two-lane highways to create a six-lane highway. Multiple uplink interfaces are useful if multiple switches are used.

Uplink interface(s) can be created via the Craft Line Interface (CLI) during the initial ESU turnup. These can be changed after they are initially configured. Refer to Tellabs 1100 Series Optical LAN Craft Interface User Interface Guide for commands used for initializing ESU30 and ESU32.

On a per-OLT basis, a VLAN can be mapped to multiple uplink (or downlink transport) interfaces at a time.

Information Note1: The system supports Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) (IEEE 802.1w) for automatically checking and preventing of network loops.
Information Note2: RSTP is not supported between the nodes of a ring.

Selecting VLAN/Uplink and Uplink Management on the OLT Menu Bar displays the following Uplink display options:

The display screen shows the existing networks with the ability to remove them from the network.
