Automatically Upgrading the EMS Client

When the user starts the client on a remote machine, and it connects to a server that is running a more recent version of Panorama PON EMS Server, a version mismatch condition occurs. To correct this condition, follow these steps.

1. The Version Mismatch message may appear, as shown below. Keep in mind, this message appears only after the client has been started and the user is successfully logged on to it. If the client is not upgraded, it cannot be used with any server running a more recent version of Panorama PON EMS. 
   
   
    
2. To upgrade, click on the OK button. 
3. A progress bar is displayed, and the Downloading client install file message appears. This downloads the installer and closes the client.
   
   
    

4. A progress bar is displayed, and the Downloading client install file message appears. Click OK. This downloads the installer and closes the client.
   
   
    
5. Click OK the button to download the installer and close the client. 
6. The InstallAnywhere progress bar is displayed.
   
   
    

7. The Default or Custom Install dialog is displayed. 
   
   
    
8.  Select Default and click on the Next button.  
9. The Specify Server Host dialog is displayed.
   
   
    
10. Fill in Server Host with the IP address of the server and click on the Next button.

11. The Uninstall Tellabs Panorama PON dialog is displayed. This is normal. The installer will uninstall the old version and then install the more recent version.
    
    
     
12. Select Uninstall to uninstall the current PON installation. 
13. The Please Wait window is displayed. No user intervention is required. One or more informational pop-ups may appear on top of the Please Wait window. No user intervention is required.
    
    
     
14. A different Uninstall Tellabs Panorama PON window is displayed. Several informational messages will appear above the progress bar. No user intervention is required. The Please Wait window may appear again.
    
    
     
15. A different Uninstall Tellabs Panorama PON window is displayed. Several informational messages will appear above the progress bar. No user intervention is required. The Please Wait window will appear again.
16. The uninstall is now complete. The upgrade continues and begins installing the new release. The Install Anywhere window is displayed. No user intervention is required.
    
    
     
17. The Pre-Installation Summary dialog is displayed.
    
    
     
18. Accept the Summary and click on the Install button to continue.
19. After installation, the Install Complete dialog is displayed.
    
    
20. Click on the Done button to complete the installation.
21. To verify the upgrade, click the Start button on the desktop and select All Programs. Scroll down to the Tellabs folder and select Panorama Client. The client will open. Login to verify the operation of the client.
