The Port Metrics provides statistical traffic information for a selected Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) line.

The Metrics Menu Bar displays the Metrics status information for a data subscriber ONT port.

Access to Metrics is located on the ONT UNI Port Menu Bar.

Dot3 Counter Errors

The Dot3 Error Counters display the total errors received and transmitted on the selected ONT port.

  • Alignment Errors
  • FCS Errors
  • Carrier Sense Errors
  • Symbol Errors
  • Internal MAC Receive Errors
  • Frame Too Longs
  • Deferred Transmissions

Interface

GbE Port Packet Counters display the total packets received and transmitted.

Each packet is a Variable length text string encoded within a fixed field of 32 octets.

  • Octets (In)
  • Octets (Out)
  • Unicast (In)
  • Unicast (Out)
  • Multicast (In)
  • Multicast (Out)
  • Broadcast (In)
  • Broadcast (Out)
  • Discard (In)

RMON

Remote Network Monitoring (RMON) displays the Current and Previous traffic analysis of the ONT port traffic.

  • Dropped Events
  • Bytes
  • Packets
  • Broadcast Packets
  • Multicast Packets
  • Undersize Packets
  • Jabbers
  • Fragments
  • 0-64 Octets
  • 65-127 Octets
  • 128-255 Octets
  • 256-511 Octets
  • 512-1023 Octets
  • 1025-1518 Octets
  • Validity

RSTP

Remote Network Monitoring (RMON) displays the Bridge Data Protocol Units (BDPUs) and Topology Change Notices (TCNs) statistics of an ONT port.

  • STP BPDUs - Number of STP Bridge Data Protocol Units (BDPUs) transmitted on this port/VLAN.
  • STP BPDUs RX - Number of STP BDPUs received on this port/VLAN.
  • RSTP BPDUs TX - Number of RSTP BDPUs transmitted on this port/VLAN.
  • RSTP BPDUs RX - Number of RSTP BDPUs received on this port/VLAN.
  • MSTP BPDUs TX - Number of MSTP BPDUs transmitted on this port/VLAN.
  • MSTP BPDUs RX - Number of MSTP BDPUs received on this port/VLAN.
  • TCN TX - Number of Topology Change Notices (TCNs) transmitted on this port/VLAN.
  • TCN RX - Number of TCNs received on this port/VLAN.
  • FWD-XN - This counter remembers how many times a port transitions from learning to forwarding. In a stable topology, this counter always shows 1. This counter resets to 0 as the port goes down and up. So, a value that is higher than 1 indicates that the transition experienced by the port is the result of an STP recalculation. The transition is not the result of a direct link failure.
  • Age Expiry - This counter tracks the number of times that the max age expired on this link. Basically, a port that expects BPDUs waits for max age before the port considers the designated bridge to be lost. The max age default is 20 seconds. Each time this event occurs, the counter increments. When the value is not 0, it indicates that the designated bridge for this LAN is unstable or has a problem with the transmission of BPDUs.
