Roles
The Panorama PON User Manager supports a Role Manager option. The Role Manager can be used to create unique user roles. These roles can be very specific or general in nature.
Refresh
Use the following procedure to refresh the list of roles currently in the Role manager.
- Launch a Panorama PON EMS client session.
- From the Main Menu, select File > Users (ALT+F, U), or click the User Manager icon (
). The User Manager dialog is displayed.

- In the User Manager dialog, select Role > Role (ALT+R,O). The Role manager dialog is displayed.

- In the Role Manager dialog, Click on the Refresh button. The list of roles has been updated.

Click on the Close button to close the Role Manager.

Click on the Close button to close the User Manager.
Add
Use the following procedure to create a new role.
- Launch a Panorama PON EMS client session.
- From the Main Menu, select File > Users (ALT+F, U), or click the User Manager icon (
). The User Manager dialog is displayed.

- In the User Manager dialog, select Role > Role (ALT+R, O). The Role manager dialog is displayed.

The default roles are listed in the above illustration. Each of the roles provides a different level of capabilities, provided in the table below. When adding a user, and a default role is selected, the following role capabilities are applied as the default.

Note: It is not recommended to change the capabilities of the default roles. If a new role is required, create a new role and select the capabilities for that role.
Role CapabilitiesRole Capabilities Description Read-Write ReadWrite access to all options, except for Certificate administration, EMS administrator, and User management. Role assigned to those tasked with performing daily system tasks, i.e., managing equipment, profiles, links. VLANs, services, OLT software downloads, alarm/event management, OLT backup/restore, port management, and system inventories. Read-Only ReadOnly access to all options, except for Certificate administration, EMS administration, User management, OLT software download, Sync and Tl1 Access. Role typically assigned to those individuals that are tasked with performing non-system affecting tasks, i.e., monitoring system activity. Administrator ReadWrite to all options, except for Certificate management. Role assigned to system administrators. The only task, typically, that an administrator cannot perform are management or security certificates. CertificateAdmin NoAccess to all options, except for Certificate Administration and User Management and ReadOnly access to Alarm/Event Management. Role assigned to the designated individuals that are concerned with performing certificate-related tasks, (i.e., managing security certificates.) - In the Role Manager dialog, click on the Add button. The Create Role dialog is displayed.

- In the Create Role dialog:
- assign a unique Role Name for this role.
- enter a Description for this role.
- check, or uncheck, those role Privileges users assigned this role are able to perform.
- Click on the Ok The Role Manager displays with the new role added to the list of available roles.
- Click on the Close button to close the Role Manager.
- Click on the Close button to close the User Manager.
Edit
Use the following procedure to edit a current role listed in the Role Manager.
- Launch a Panorama PON EMS client session.
- From the Main Menu, select File > Users (ALT+F, U), or click the User Manager icon (
). The User Manager dialog is displayed.

- In the User Manager dialog, select Role > Role (ALT+R, O). The Role manager dialog is displayed."
- In the Role Manager dialog, select the role to be modified. The Modify Role dialog is displayed.

In the Modify Role dialog, the Description and assigned Privileges can be changed. Edit theDescription and/or check, or uncheck the privileges as appropriate.
- Click on the OK button. Role Manager displays with the new role added to the list of available roles.
- Click on the Close button to close the Role Manager.
- Click on the Close button to close the User Manager.
Delete
Use the following procedure to delete a role from the available list of roles.
- Launch a Panorama PON EMS client session.
- From the Main Menu, select File > Users (ALT+F, U), or click the User Manager icon (
). The User Manager dialog is displayed.

- In the User Manager dialog, select Role > Role (ALT+R, O). The Role manager dialog is displayed."
- In the Role Manager dialog, select the role to be deleted, then click on the Delete button. A Warning is displayed.
