SIP UA Register - Cannot Authenticate
Description
Indicates that the ONT is attempting to register with the Softswitch, but is unable to do so due to an authentication failure. In the TConfig, each line can be configured with a username and password to be used for that line to authenticate with the switch. It is only used if the switch challenges the ONT during registration.
Incorrect username and password being specified in the TConfig configuration. The username and password must match what is stored on the Softswitch for that line.
| Note: There are two very similar alarms, one for authenticating with TConfig, and one for authentication with the Softswitch (this alarm). Ensure the correct trouble-clearing procedure is used. |
Pre-Conditions(s)
- The line must be in Softswitch mode for this alarm to occur.
- User Authentication must be turned on in the Softswitch.
Trouble Clearing
The probable cause of this alarm is:
- Incorrect Username / Password Specified on Voice Line - The voice line has the Softswitch username and Softswitch password. These are used to log the voice line in on the switch. The username and password must match what is configured on the switch. The softswitch username and password are found on the under Ports>PON>Voice>Properties> for Voice Line Property.

Note: Usernames and passwords are case-sensitive.

- Incorrect Realm - The realm defines the security domain for authentication on the switch. Most switches accept the IP address or hostname of the switch as the domain. This is controlled by the switch configuration. Consult the softswitch administrator to determine the correct setting. The realm is found in the TConfig>Profile>Services configuration.
