SIP UA Register - Cannot Resolve Domain Name
Description
Indicates that the ONT is attempting to Register with the Softswitch, but is unable to do so due to a problem with resolving the Name of the Registrar that was provided in the TConfig configuration. If the Registrar was configured to be a hostname, valid DNS server addresses are required to be populated in the DHCP response. This allows the ONT to properly resolve the name. It may also mean that the Softswitch registrar is not registered with the Softswitch.
Pre-Conditions(s)
Services profile must use hostnames, rather than IP addresses.
Trouble Clearing
The probable causes of this alarm are:
- Invalid Dial Plan in the TConfig Server.
- The DNS server is down or unreachable: The DNS server cannot be reached and therefore the hostname cannot be resolved to an IP address.
- The DNS server does not have entry for hostname: The DNS server is operational but does not have an entry that corresponds to the hostname found in the services profile.
- The DNS server has not been configured: If there is also a DHCP Server - Incomplete Response alarm, it could be that the DHCP server has not been configured to hand out a DNS entry and so the DNS server cannot be located.
-
Hostname in Services Profile is incorrect: The services profile has a hostname init, but it is incorrect and therefore cannot be resolved by the DNS server. The Host Name is found at TConfig>Profile>Services, for the profile configuration.
