Verifying MAC Counts Before/After Upgrade
The reason to capture a list of MACs is to verify that all learned MACs (attached devices, phones, cameras and computers) are accounted for and operating after an upgrade. The list of MACs will be compared against the list of MACs generated before an update.
- Select the Switching
Icon in the Application window, the OLT in the Common Tree, the Forwarding DB tab in the Main window, and click the Get button.

- Before Upgrade - Capture a list of MACs for future validation reference and note the number of records found, located in the lower left corner of the EMS.

Note: You can also do this by selecting all alarms and simply pasting them into Excel or notepad. - To capture the MACs, select the orange CSV
Icon from the top Tool Bar. - Highlight and double click the current file in the log window. This will enter the file address into the File name: window.
- Click on the Export to a CVS File button in the Main window.

- After the Export to a CVS File buttonis pressed, a message will be returned showing the path to the exported file.

- Click on the OK button to close out the message.
- To capture the MACs, select the orange CSV
- After upgrade - Compare the current MACs with previous captured MACs. They should be the same. The count may be off if any connected equipment was removed or powered off during the software update. Importing the file into Excel or other spreadsheet programs allows sorting the MACs and easy comparison of the before and after captures of MAC addresses.
