Creating a Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) Uplink Interface
| Note: [LACP cannot be configured between the nodes of a ring. |
Configure Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) for uplink interfaces. LACP is an IEEE protocol that, as long as both ends of a connection support it, detects and removes non-functioning links from LAGs. To configure LACP:
To create a Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) uplink interface:
- Click the LACP Configuration tab and select the Configure LACP? Check box.

- Click in the Mode: drop down box to select an LACP Mode.
Passive (the default) means that this uplink interface waits for the other end to initiate an LACP connection. This setting is compatible with all equipment, regardless of whether it supports LACP or not.
Active means that this uplink initiates LACP connections. One or both ends of the connection must be Active in order for LACP to work. This setting requires that the equipment on the other end (such as a switch) support LACP. If it does not, LACP determines that the link is non-functioning and removes it.
- Select a Timer value of Short (the default) or Long. This determines how long a link must be non-functioning before LACP removes it. The Short timeout is three seconds, while the Long timeout is 90 seconds.
- Click the Apply button. Panorama PON displays a confirmation message.
- Click the Ok button.
- When finished, click the Close button.
