Event Codes

The following table provides a description of the code displayed in the Event Code field. The displayed code represented the last event that occurred on the selected ONT.

Event Code Description Notes
ACTIVATED Occurs when the selected ONT becomes operational.
DEACTIVATED Occurs when communication with the selected ONT is lost.
UNKNOWNPASSWORD Occurs when activation of the selected ONT fails, due to an unknown ONT password. Abnormal ranging/activation failure.
KEYSYNCFAIL Occurs when the PON encryption key change sequence fails. Should continue operation with the current key, until the next key change cycle.
OOR Out of Range - Occurs when the selected ONT is detected to be beyond the range of the PON. ONT is automatically placed in e-stop mode.
UNEXPECTED

Occurs when an unexpected serial number is detected.

MEM

Message Error Message - Occurs when an unknown PLOAM message is received from the selected ONT. Isolated occurrences probably due to transmission errors. Otherwise, abnormal ONT behavior.
PROV Occurs when the selected ONT is provisioned.
SIGDEGRADE

Signal Degrade - Occurs when the Bit Error Rate (BER) exceeds the provisioned signal degrade threshold. Indicates poor optical signal quality.

WINDOWSDRIFT

Occurs when the range to the selected ONT drifts out of a small window centered on the original range value. Should cause an automatic re-range of the ONT.

REMERRIND

Remote Error Indicator - Occurs when the selected ONT reports a non-zero value for the bit interleaved parity (BIP) error count. Indicates poor optical signal quality.

DEACTIVATEFAIL

Occurs if the selected ONT fails to respond to the deactivation command Abnormal ONT behavior.

MACTXVRFAIL

MAC Transceiver Failure Transceiver overheating or other hardware failure.
SUSFIBERBREAK

Suspected Fiber Break - Occurs when communication is lost with all ONTs on the PON.
RANGETIMEOUT

Occurs when an attempt to activate the selected ONT fails due to a timeout. Abnormal ranging/activation failure
