Firewall Behaviors

To establish communications between the Panorama PON EMS server and either a Panorama PON EMS client, a Tellabs 1000 VGW OLT, or Tellabs 1100 Series OLTs, the firewall must be configured to allow packets in both directions.

A TCP/IP or UDP communications channel is associated with two port numbers - a port to which the packet is sent and a port from which the packet is received.

The application waiting to receive packets, the Host, defines the to port number. The sending machine’s IP stack randomly generates a from port number. Remote system(s) replies are sent to this randomly generated port number.
