Restoring from a Valid EMS System Backup
The recovery of the failed system is dependent on the backup strategy used. For example, if the OLTs have been backed up more recently than the EMS system, it is necessary to initially recover the EMS and then rebuild all the OLTs onto the EMS.
Perform the following procedure to recover the EMS and re-sync it with the OLTs:
| Caution: If any of the Tellabs 1100 Series OLTs are configured with a Voice Gateway in support of voice connections, performing Step 5(a) deletes all voice cross-connects from the system. It is recommended that OLTs configured for voice not be deleted. |
- Duplicate the OS network environment on the repaired host server. The platform, Hostname, and IP address(es) must be identical to those on the failed system. Make sure both servers are not on the network at the same time once they have been assigned the same IP address.
- If the Oracle database was used, it must be re-installed with a release identical to the failed system.
- Reinstall the EMS on the repaired Host server. The EMS version must be identical to the EMS version on the failed system.
- Run the restoreems command using the last known good backup generated by the backupems command. See Backup and Restore for detailed instructions.
- If the OLTs are not configured with a Voice Gateway in support of voice connections, put the EMS and OLTs back in sync by following these steps:
- Delete the OLTs from the EMS.
- Add the OLTs back to the EMS using the read provisioning data from the OLT option.

Note: Step 5 is not service-affecting the OLTs unless they support voice.
