Upgrading Panorama PON EMS
Pre-Upgrade steps are non-service affecting steps that will prepare the system for an upgrade. Upgrades are often scheduled for a maintenance window, but all these preliminary steps can be performed during normal business hours to decrease the size of the maintenance window and prepare the system for backups and other.
| Note: Pre-upgrade steps are required in all upgrades, with/without PPGs. |
- Upgrade EMS: Perform a Upgrade to the Panorama Server Software, this action typically takes approximately 45 minutes. Upgrade the EMS utilizing the Upgrade EMS procedure.
- It is good practice to ensure that the new software release is compatible with the existing OLT release to ensure that it will continue talking to the OLTs after upgrade.
- Backup OLTs: Perform a backup all OLTs, this action typically takes about 1-2 minutes per OLT. Backup the OLTS utilizing the Backup OLT Database procedure.

Note: For PPG based systems ensure both OLTs are backed up. - It is good practice to ensure that backups are copied off of the machine to protect them in the event of any machine failure.
- Stage the OLT software on the EMS: Stage the OLT software utilizing the Stage OLT Software procedure.
- Download OLT Software: Perform a Manual Software Download to all OLTs. Software downloads vary, depending on the system loading, and can take as much as 3 hours. Download the OLT software utilizing the Download OLT software procedure.

Note: Multiple downloads can be in progress simultaneously. Since they are non-service affecting, these can be done at any convenient time to pre-stage the software. - Verify all Downloads complete.
